Book Review: Katie In Waiting

Image
Katie In Waiting by Erynn Mangum Goodreads Summary: Katie McCoy has spent her whole life waiting for the right guy and he isn't coming. After relocating to Carrington Springs, Missouri, Katie finds herself getting more and more frustrated. Can't God see that she's trying her best to meet someone? Doesn't He care that she's lonely? What is she doing that is making Him not bless her with this? With two new friends, Eliza and Ashten, by her side, Katie starts to realize that maybe God has bigger plans for her life than she could have ever imagined. My Review: 5/5 Stars Erynn does it again!!! I honestly don't think I have read a book of hers I didn't like, but this one was really good. Probably because I am pretty sure I am Katie in every possible aspect. And here is a quote to prove it: "Here's the thing: I've never had anyone help me with my coat before. So, I basically end up punching him in the eye while I'm trying to get my sleeve o

Book Review: 180 Seconds

Image
180 Seconds by Jessica Park Goodreads Summary: Some people live their entire lives without changing their perspective. For Allison Dennis, all it takes is 180 seconds… After a life spent bouncing from one foster home to the next, Allison is determined to keep others at arm’s length. Adopted at sixteen, she knows better than to believe in the permanence of anything. But as she begins her third year in college, she finds it increasingly difficult to disappear into the white noise pouring from her earbuds. One unsuspecting afternoon, Allison is roped into a social experiment just off campus. Suddenly, she finds herself in front of a crowd, forced to interact with a complete stranger for 180 seconds. Neither she, nor Esben Baylor, the dreamy social media star seated opposite her, is prepared for the outcome. When time is called, the intensity of the experience overwhelms Allison and Esben in a way that unnerves and electrifies them both. With a push from her oldest friend, Allison embar

But I’m not writing this down for absolution and I’m not seeking forgiveness, not even from myself. Because I’m not sorry for what I did to Rose. I’m just not. Not for any of it.” Ben Gibson is many things, but he’s not sorry and he’s not a liar. He will tell you exactly about what happened on what started as a simple school camping trip in the mountains. About who lived and who died. About who killed

Today's Can't Wait Wednesday is Lie to Me by J.T. Ellison. Expected Publication: September 5,     2017 I randomly came across this book the other day, and now I can't stop thinking about it. It has been compared to several other Thrillers such as "Gone Girl", so I'm excited to see how it stacks up.  Here is the Goodreads Summary: They built a life on lies  Sutton and Ethan Montclair’s idyllic life is not as it appears. Book Review: Someone Else's Fairytale

Image
Someone Else's Fairytale by E.M. Tippetts Goodreads Summary: Jason Vanderholt, Hollywood's hottest actor, falls head over heels for everygirl, Chloe Winters, who hasn't gotten around to watching most of his movies. It's the ideal fairytale... for most people. The last thing Chloe needs is public attention. It brings back dangers from the past that she's worked her whole life to escape. My Review: 4/5 Stars This is the first book in Tippetts Someone Else's Fairytale Series and it ended so well, I honestly don't want to read the next one.  I'm always am a sucker for Hollywood star falls for hometown girl stories, because lets be honest that is my fairytale too!  But this one wasn't just another story like that. It had a lot of scary and traumatic events that were still bothering Chloe, and still impacting her day to day live.

Book Review: Head in the Game

Head in the Game: The Mental Engineering of the World's Greatest Athletes by Brandon Sneed: Goodreads Summary: The next frontier of sports training doesn’t rest with the body, but with the mind For years, common wisdom has held that athletic performance is rooted in genetics and peak physical enhancement of the body. But journalist Brandon Sneed has another idea: that mental engineering — training the cognitive process of the brain — presents yet a new level of sports performance, and that athletes, despite already being at the top of the genetic pool, can actually become better.  This is a watershed idea — the conscious alteration of our brains can have drastic effects, so much so that elite athletes around the world are already seeing incredible results: stars like Steph Curry, Kerri Walsh Jennings, Russell Wilson, and dozens others are experimenting with this concept. They are hooking their brains to computers and using other cutting-edge technology that seems like stuff out

Book Review: P.S. I Like You

Image
P.S. I Like You by Kasie West Goodreads Summary: Signed, sealed, delivered… While spacing out in chemistry class, Lily scribbles some of her favorite song lyrics onto her desk. The next day, she finds that  someone  has continued the lyrics on the desk and added a message to her. Intrigue! Soon, Lily and her anonymous pen pal are exchanging full-on letters—sharing secrets, recommending bands, and opening up to each other. Lily realizes she’s kind of falling for this letter writer. Only, who is he? As Lily attempts to unravel the mystery  and  juggle school, friends, crushes, and her crazy family, she discovers that matters of the heart can’t always be spelled out… My Review: 5/5 Stars I loved this book! I had never read a book by Kasie West before, but I can't wait to pick up another one of hers.  It was a typical high school romance, but I loved it. I really enjoyed the character that Lily was writing to. I even began to fall for him.  It was awesome how through their note

Book Review: The Woman in Cabin 10

Image
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware Goodreads Summary: In this tightly wound story, Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. At first, Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant: the cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for—and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong… With surprising twists and a setting that proves as uncomfortably claustrophobic as it is eerily beautiful, Ruth Ware offers up another intense read. My Summary: 3.5/5 stars I couldn't help but compare this book to the The
