Podcasts I'm hooked on

Image
long time no see... In my new season of life aka ~adulting~ I struggle to come home from a full day of work and pick up a book. Anybody else go through this? I'm slowlllyyy getting back into, but in the meantime I'm been listening to a ton of podcasts to have something to stimulate my brain. Should I try an audio book? Probably but that feels like too big of a commitment. So here is what's been on my current rotation: She Podcast - this is hosted by Jordan Lee Dooley who is very motivation female entrepreneur. If anybody is wanting to start their own company, want to grow your faith,  struggling to find community or just want to feel like you are listening to a friend check this one out! She has a recentish book out "Own Your Everyday". Anybody read it? It's going on my TBR pile for sure. Goal Digger - this one is hosted by Jenna Kutcher and let me say another strong empowered woman right here! So tbh I have only listened to 1 episode so far, ...

Book Review: Love Story

Image
Love Story by Erich Segal: Goodreads Summary: Oliver Barrett IV, a wealthy jock from a stuffy WASP family on his way to a Harvard degree and a career in law . . . Jenny Cavilleri, a sharp-tongued, working-class beauty studying music at Radcliffe . . . Opposites in nearly every way, Oliver and Jenny are kindred spirits from vastly different worlds. Falling deeply and powerfully, their attraction to one another defies everything they have ever believed—as they share a passion far greater than anything they dreamed possible . . . and explore the wonder of a love that must end too soon. One of the most adored novels of our time, this is the book that defined a generation—a story of uncompromising devotion, of life as it really is . . . and love that changes everything. My Review: 3/5 Stars Typical love story of 2 people from different worlds that fall in love and deal with life as it comes. Super quick read that will have you laughing and crying all on the sa...

Book Review: My Lovely Wife

Image
My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing Goodreads Summary: Dexter meets Mr. and Mrs. Smith in this wildly compulsive debut thriller about a couple whose fifteen-year marriage has finally gotten too interesting... Our love story is simple. I met a gorgeous woman. We fell in love. We had kids. We moved to the suburbs. We told each other our biggest dreams, and our darkest secrets. And then we got bored. We look like a normal couple. We're your neighbors, the parents of your kid's friend, the acquaintances you keep meaning to get dinner with. We all have secrets to keeping a marriage alive. Ours just happens to be getting away with murder. My Review: 4/5 Stars This summary caught my attention right away, and I thought it was going to be another thrilling mystery similar to all the others out there and boy was I wrong. Downing wrote this book to be all kinds of twisty and messed up that had me staying up all night to finish it. All true-crime fan...

All Deni and her family have left is each other and their neighbors. Their little community will either stand or fall together. But they're only beginning to realize it - and trust doesn't come easily. Particularly when one of them is a killer. Best-selling suspense author Terri Blackstock weaves a masterful what-if novel in which global catastrophe reveals the darkness in human hearts - and lights the way to restoration for a self-centered world. My Review: 5/5 Stars This is a reread I wanted to get to this year, and it was just as good as the first time. I've read almost all of Blackstock's series ...

Book Review: The Nanny Diaries

Image
The Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin Goodreads Summary: Wanted: One young woman to take care of four-year-old boy. Must be cheerful, enthusiastic and selfless--bordering on masochistic. Must relish sixteen-hour shifts with a deliberately nap-deprived preschooler. Must love getting thrown up on, literally and figuratively, by everyone in his family. Must enjoy the delicious anticipation of ridiculously erratic pay. Mostly, must love being treated like fungus found growing out of employers Hermès bag. Those who take it personally need not apply. Who wouldn't want this job? Struggling to graduate from NYU and afford her microscopic studio apartment, Nanny takes a position caring for the only son of the wealthy X family. She rapidly learns the insane amount of juggling involved to ensure that a Park Avenue wife who doesn't work, cook, clean, or raise her own child has a smooth day. When the X's' marriage begins to disintegrate, Nanny ends up involved way beyond the boun...
