Month in Review is hosted by Kathryn at  The Book Date August is when things started to pick back up in terms of busyness. I started school back (ugh) but finally was reunited with all my friends, which is always a good thing. I think I'm actually going to be apart of a few different Bible studies this semester also, so I might do some reviews of the study books we use! Total Books Read this month: 4 Books I Read: 1.  Carrie by Stephen King (4/5 Stars) 2.  Over You by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus (4.5/5 Stars) 3.  With Purpose by Ken Dychtwald and Daniel J. Kadlec (2.7/5 Stars) 4. Play With Me by Piper Shelly and Anna Katmore (5/5 Stars) Favorite book of August: Hands down PLAY WITH ME! The tryouts are hell, the first match ends bloody, and the morning after the selection party she wakes up in the worst place possible—in the arms of the captain of the soccer team. The hottest guy in school… Ryan Hunter. My Review:  5/5 Stars Wow such a good quick beach read!! It's the kind of romance ...

Book Review: With Purpose

Image
With Purpose by Ken Dychtwald and Daniel J.Kadlec Goodreads Summary: “Ken Dychtwald maps out where success intersects with meaning—and he provides the tools to help you find your own unique crossing.” —Deepak Chopra, M.D., author of  The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success A New Purpose,  written by Ken Dychtwald, Ph.D., and Daniel J. Kadlec, redefines the American view of success, employment, retirement, and living a significant life. By providing both the inspiration and the information that will enable anyone to ensure that their time and influence have lasting and positive consequences,  A New Purpose,  as Daniel Goleman, author of  Emotional Intelligence,  sees it, “points the way to our true north, the compass we all need to follow of a meaningful life.” My Review: 2.7/5 Stars With Purpose is all about as we get older that we want to make a switch to becoming significant instead of just  successful. I really enjoyed the storie...

Book Review: Carrie

Image
Carrie by Stephen King Goodreads Summary: Carrie knew she should not use the terrifying power she possessed... But one night at her senior prom, Carrie was scorned and humiliated just one time too many, and in a fit of uncontrollable fury she turned her clandestine game into a weapon of horror and destruction... My Review: 4/5 Stars Believe it or not I have never read a Stephen King before this, so I figured what better way to start than one of his earliest and most popular books. I gave this book 4 stars, but I honestly have pretty mixed feelings about it. Mostly because I think it confused me more than anything. Like really who can come up with this kind of stuff? But on the other hand I was completely hooked. Carrie has telekinetic powers that when pushed over the edge by her bullying classmates goes into effect and causes major destruction. Her mother never helped the situation by belittling every common teenage feeling, and always suggesting the need to ...
