Hatchards

Image
Complete silence except for the creaking of the ground beneath our feet. We had stumbled upon the oldest bookstore in London, Hatchards, located in the heart of Piccadilly Circus. It first opened its doors in 1797, and by the looks of it they haven't slowed down since then. There is a grand staircase situated in the middle of the store that can take you to any of the five stories. Each floor contains different genres, but all impressive in their own right. They have generous section of first edition books, as well as an abundance of signed copies. I officially found my haven here in London. It was hard to resist buying almost every book I picked up, but I had to reason with myself about the suitcase room on the return home. This is a must see for all you book lovers making a trip to London!!  Books I did buy here: The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie London Rain by Nicola Upson What is the coolest bookstore you have been to? I'm making a bookstore bucket list!!

Books To Read Before They Are Movies

Image
Books are always better than the movie right? Well, I have decided to challenge myself to read these books before I'm allowed to see them on the big screen. Most of these are scheduled to come out sometime in 2018, but since I don't have the definite date I am just going to make sure I read it before seeing the movie. So I'll be ready for whenever they do come out. I found that these were either expected, through various news articles, to come to the big screen soon or were already in post-production according to IMBD. So I hope those sources are reliable. I will post a book review when I finish it!! Here are the ones I plan to tackle with their Goodreads Summaries: All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him. Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana ...

Book Review: Read Bottom Up

Image
Read Bottom Up by Neel Shah Goodreads Summary: A charming novel about falling in love (or like) in the digital age—the never-before-seen full story Madeline and Elliot meet at a New York City restaurant opening. Flirtation—online—ensues. A romance, potentially eternal, possibly doomed, begins. And, like most things in life today, their early exchanges are available to be scrutinized and interpreted by well-intentioned friends who are a mere click away. Madeline and Elliot's relationship unfolds through a series of thrilling, confounding, and funny exchanges with each other, and, of course, with their best friends and dubious confidants (Emily and David). The result is a brand-new kind of modern romantic comedy, in format, in content, and even in creation—the authors exchanged e-mails in real time, blind to each other's side conversations. You will nod in appreciation and roll your eyes in recognition; you'll learn a thing or two about how the other half approaches a new ...

Book Review: Beautiful Disaster

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire: Goodreads Summary: The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand.  Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match. My Review: 5/5 Stars I LOVED IT!! Book Review: Someone Else's Summer

Image
Someone Else's Summer by Rachel Bateman G oodreads Summary: Anna's always idolized her older sister, Storm. So when Storm dies in a tragic car accident on the night of her high school graduation, Anna is completely lost and her family is torn apart. That is, until she finds Storm's summer bucket list and decides to honor her sister by having the best summer ever—which includes taking an epic road trip to the coast from her sleepy Iowa town. Setting out to do everything on Storm's list along with her sisters best friend Cameron—the boy next door—who knew that Storm's dream summer would eventually lead to Anna's own self-discovery? My Review: 4/5 Stars I really enjoyed this book. I have an older sister that I pretty much idolize, so I could imagine the emotions of this loss. I also love lists and specifically bucket lists, so it was great to see Anna fulfilling something that was so special to her sister. I would hope my sister would do that in my case, but...
